Semi-private classes
Semi-private classes are limited to a maximum of 6 students (minimum of 4) and the cost is $100 for a 6 week session. Sessions roll over indefinitely every 6 weeks and run year round. Each session is pre-paid and no credit is given for missed classes. Classes cancelled by Greytdogs Agility due to weather or other circumstance will be rescheduled at a later date at no additional charge.
Private lessons
Regularly scheduled private lessons are available in both 30 and 60 minute increments. You are welcome to train one dog for half an hour (my usual recommendation) or split an hour between two of your dogs. The cost is $60 an hour/$30 for half an hour. The introductory lesson usually takes about an hour for a cost of $60. After that, private lessons are usually scheduled in 30 minute increments on a weekly or bi-weekly basis. At the initial private introductory lesson a $120 non-refundable deposit is required which covers your account set up, the initial 60 minute lesson and two subsequent 30 minute lessons.
Unique Situations
Occasionally friends wish to train together on a regular basis but cannot meet the 4 student minimum requirement for a semi-private class. In these circumstances a one hour regularly scheduled lesson can be split between 3 dogs at a cost of $25 per student/dog or a one hour regularly scheduled lesson can be split between 2 dogs for a cost of $30 per student/dog.
Training philosophy
At Greytdogs, agility is taught using positive reinforcement. No choke, pinch, shock collars, harnesses or flexi leads are allowed. Toys and food as rewards are encouraged, verbal corrections are discouraged, physical corrections are not allowed. Agility is taught with competition in mind, but it is not a requirement that students compete with their dogs.
At Greytdogs, training for the novice dog begins with ground work, putting a solid basis on the dog before they are introduced to obstacles. To do agility properly takes training and training takes work - lots of work. As skills progress, dogs are slowly introduced to the obstacles and the fun begins.
