Agility is a competitive sport emphasizing teamwork between handler and dog as they negotiate a timed series of obstacles. It is open to all dogs, of any size or description, which are physically and temperamentally suited to the sport. And it is great fun!

Welcome to Greytdogs Agility Training Facility. My name is Donna D'Amico. I was first introduced to the sport of agility in April 1994 and as a consequence, my (then) two dogs were immediately enrolled in agility classes. Later that year I became an active member of Haute Dawgs Agility Group. I have been on the Haute Dawgs Board of Directors since 1996, serving as Director at Large for a number of years, Training Director (twice), Vice President and President (three times) and I have assisted with/taught Haute Dawgs agility classes since 1995. For ten years the club phone rang in my home.

To give you a little more background, I have trained continuously with Haute Dawgs since 1994, I currently train several times a week with Kathie Leggett of Touch & Go Agility in North Highlands, CA and whenever possible I attend agility seminars and workshops. I have personally trained 7 of my own dogs in agility (various breeds/groups-see below) several of which that have competed and titled in USDAA, AKC, NADAC and CPE. It would be an understatement to say that agility is my passion and I am, without doubt, a dog-a-holic.

Because of my love of the sport of agility, I purchased an acre in Carmichael, CA. The agility area is approximately 120' X 150' and is fully fenced and double gated. Although my facility is in a residential area and therefore not available to the general public, as long as my neighbors don't complain I will offer scheduled private lessons and semi-private agility classes, weather permitting.

Regularly scheduled private lessons are available in both 30 and 60 minute increments. You are welcome to train one dog for half an hour (my usual recommendation) or split an hour between two of your dogs. The cost is $60 an hour/$30 for half an hour. The introductory lesson usually takes about an hour for a cost of $60. After that, private lessons are usually scheduled in 30 minute increments on a weekly or bi-weekly basis. At the initial private introductory lesson a $120 non-refundable deposit is required which covers your account set up, the initial 60 minute lesson and two subsequent 30 minute lessons.

Although my semi-private classes are currently filled, I do maintain a waiting list. Semi-private classes are limited to a maximum of 6 students (minimum of 4) and the cost is $100 for a 6 week session (sessions run year round).

If you are interested in semi-private group classes or regularly scheduled private agility lessons, please email me at dd@greytdogsagility.com and reference agility in the subject line.

My Dogs:
  • Katie, an English Shepherd [12/91-01/02] - Intelligent, independent and intense she was the challenge of a lifetime. The dog responsible for changing my life, she turned me on to agility, which became her passion as well. I miss her terribly.
  • Andy, a Welsh Springer Spaniel [05/93-03/07] - The consummate clown with a zest for life, this little boy never failed to make me smile. (He also frustrated me more than all the others combined.) I miss his goofy grin very much.
  • Toby, a Greyhound - My introduction to the world of the greyhound. And he roos.
  • Midnite, a Greyhound [04/95-01/04] - Littermate to Toby, this was one of the sweetest and gentlest dogs I ever met. His eyes touched my soul the first time I saw him and I haven't been the same since. When he passed away in 2004 as a result of an allergic reaction to anesthesia, my heart was broken.
  • AshleyAnne, a Mixed Breed - Ashley joined our clan when she became an escape artist and could no longer be contained at her former home. She started out as a foster, but soon wormed her way into our hearts and when the time came we simply couldn't let her go.
  • Brenden, a Shetland Sheepdog - A totally unplanned addition in June 2000, it didn't take this little boy in blue long to worm his way into my heart and on to the agility equipment (now his passion too).
  • MACH, ADCH, C-ATE Chance, a Shetland Sheepdog - My best "chance" for an agility champion, thanks to the generosity of dear friends Kathie and Jake Leggett.
  • Will, a Whippet - My next agility hopeful.
